These are the days of our lives. Our posts are intended to record and convey the experiences we are so lucky to be enjoying. The photos will hopefully make up where the posts fall short. As with all things, expect little and you may be pleasantly surprised!!

Burgundy France

We had a lovely flight back from Edinburgh, had a few days at home in Downend and then set off for Lyon. We picked up a hire car and took a drive to a small hamlet called Lucy sur Yonne. This area of France has an abundance of chateaux. Around every corner, the fairytale turrets were visible above the trees. The area also has a vast canal network. The river Yonne runs by the side of the canal in most areas.

The other commodity this area has in plentiful supply is vinyards! As far as the eye can see the landscape is covered in vines._

We visited Chablis on market day. This is a very pretty village famous for its wine. The architecture in this area of France is new to us.

We took out some bikes to explore the area a bit further. The weather was quite warm during the day, but luckily, because of the canals, it was quite flat, so we didn't get too hot.

Oot and Aboot!

Edinburgh is a wonderful city and we were able to enjoy exploring it for 2 whole weeks during August/September.

We were looking after 2 dogs, a Newfoundland and a Golden Retriever, both a joy to care for and real sweethearts. We were living just a bus ride away from the centre of town so we could easily access all that there was to see and do. We arrived towards the tail end of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and we were able to browse the comedy venues and soak up the atmosphere. The weather was kind and aside from a few days when it rained we were lucky to have sunshine and reasonably warm temperatures during our stay.

Our hosts took us to a vegetarian restaurant before their departure where we had one of the best veggie meals ever!

During our stay we visited Edinburgh Castle, Arthur's Seat (which was just behind the house), Holyrood Palace, the Botanic Gardens, the Royal Yacht Britannia, Grassmarket and Princes Street, The Royal Mile and we ventured over the Forth Bridge to the Kingdom of Fife.

All in all, we had a great first visit and hope to return some day soon.

Where does the time go??

It is hard to believe that we have not updated our blog for over a month! It has been a busy, busy month but nonetheless, we seem to have lost time.......certainly there has not be a moment where we could collect our thoughts, formulate some kind of summary and publish a new post. Is it our age? They say time flies, especially as you grow older.....we are finding this to be an absolute truth.

Since last blogging we have completed a house and pet sit in Edinburgh, looking after a Golden Retriever and a Newfoundland. Photos and brief summaries to follow. It was fabulous. Our first visit to Edinburgh and my (Tracy), first ever visit to Scotland!
It was a tad chilly on some days but we had plenty of sunshine and not too much of the wet stuff. There will be a separate post about our time in Edinburgh in due course.

Whilst in Edinburgh we organised a fact finding trip to Burgundy in France. The trip was a success for a number of reasons, not least the kind people we met, the fine wines we discovered and the good food we enjoyed - the autumnal sunshine was a bonus!
More on Burgundy in a later post.........

September 29th and we find ourselves on the Greek island of Crete. House and pet sitting and exploring the island over the next month should be fun....watch this space!

And just in case you forgot what we look like...............!
