We had a lovely flight back from Edinburgh, had a few days at home in Downend and then set off for Lyon. We picked up a hire car and took a drive to a small hamlet called Lucy sur Yonne. This area of France has an abundance of chateaux. Around every corner, the fairytale turrets were visible above the trees. The area also has a vast canal network. The river Yonne runs by the side of the canal in most areas.
The other commodity this area has in plentiful supply is vinyards! As far as the eye can see the landscape is covered in vines._
We visited Chablis on market day. This is a very pretty village famous for its wine. The architecture in this area of France is new to us.
We took out some bikes to explore the area a bit further. The weather was quite warm during the day, but luckily, because of the canals, it was quite flat, so we didn't get too hot.
